Good afternoon Parents and Guardians,
I hope you have all had a wonderful week. It has certainly been a busy one here at Arbour Lake School. Our Grade 8 students enjoyed a great science field trip to Laser City, and we extend our sincere thanks to the volunteers who joined us and supported supervision during the day. Our basketball teams also wrapped up their seasons this week and celebrated with their end of season gatherings. Congratulations to all of our student athletes on a great season.
Photo Retakes
Looking ahead, a reminder that Monday, December 8 is Photo Retake Day for any students who require a new photo.
Drop Off & Pick Up Traffic Concerns
I also want to take a moment to revisit expectations for drop off and pick up. These routines greatly impact student safety and the flow of traffic around the school. Please remember that the bus zone extends from Arbour Crest Drive past the school field. Stopping in the bus zone, even briefly, creates significant challenges for our buses and places students at risk. I understand the morning rush is busy for families, but safety must come first. Please watch your speed, remember that U-Turns are NOT legal in this school zone, and be mindful of the high volume of students moving through the area.
We ask that families do not use the staff parking lot for dropping off or picking up students. Doing so creates access issues for our smaller buses and for staff arriving or leaving during the day. With more than 750 students, a single exception can quickly become a pattern that affects many others. Thank you for modelling patience and respect during busy times. If another driver waves you on, or signals to you, please respond in a calm and courteous manner. We are all here with the same intention that is to keep our students safe.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and for helping us keep our school community safe for everyone. Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend. As always, please feel free to reach out if there is anything I can assist with. I can be reached at nmlisi@cbe.ab.ca.
Warm regards,
Dr. Nancy Lisi
