Dear Families,

I hope everyone has had a great week. It has been a busy one around the school, and with the recent stretch of nice weather it feels like a little spring fever has arrived a few months early. I think students and staff alike are feeling it, and no complaints here.

This week, several of our Grade 6 classes participated in a mock trial facilitated by students from the University of Calgary Law Faculty. It was a fantastic experience and a great opportunity for students to engage in critical thinking, collaboration, and real world learning. We have also seen lots of volleyball action, with our boys teams participating in tournaments and representing the school well.

Today we held our second teacher swap day. Homeroom classes had the opportunity to work with other homeroom teachers within their grade, with a focus on building connections with additional adults in the building and strengthening students’ sense of belonging.

A quick reminder that Monday is order pick up for families who placed orders through the Fill Your Freezer fundraiser from 2:45-5:00pm. Thank you for your support of this initiative.

I would also like to draw your attention to our annual Open House, scheduled for Wednesday, February 26 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. This evening is designed for families transitioning to Arbour Lake School next year, including any current families with younger siblings who may be coming next year. It provides an opportunity for students to visit the school and for parents to get a sense of what the middle school experience will look like. If you have friends or neighbours with children joining us next year, please feel free to pass this information along to them as well.

Looking ahead, next week will be a short week. The school will be closed to students on Thursday and Friday, February 12 and 13, due to Teachers’ Convention.

As always, thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions or need to connect, please do not hesitate to reach out.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Warm regards,

Dr. Nancy Lisi
