Happy Friday Arbour Lake School Parents/Guardians,

We were fortunate to have some great weather this week, which allowed several learning experiences to move ahead as planned.

Our Grade 6 students enjoyed their visit to the Sam Centre, where they learned more about our city’s history and culture. We were also pleased to be able to reschedule the Grades 8 and 9 trip to Nakiska that was cancelled in December due to hazardous road conditions caused by the blizzard. The weather cooperated beautifully for both events, making for successful and enjoyable days for students and staff.

Yesterday, we conducted our first lockdown drill of the year. Teachers shared information with students in advance for this initial drill. For the second drill later this year, staff will be informed ahead of time, but students will not receive advance notice, which aligns with our safety procedures. As always, we encourage you to debrief with your child if they have questions or concerns following the drill, and please reach out to the school if additional support is needed.

Looking ahead to next week, School Council will meet virtually on Tuesday, January 20 at 6:30 pm. We hope you will join us. Link to join: Join the meeting now

We also invite you to attend our Winter Festival of Learning on Thursday, January 22 at 6:30 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to see student learning and connect as a school community.

A quick scheduling reminder that Semester 1 ends on January 27, and Semester 2 begins on January 28. At that time, students will move into their new complementary courses. While report cards are typically issued at this transition point, they have been delayed until the end of February, as previously communicated by the CBE.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Have a wonderful weekend, and please do not hesitate to reach out if you ever need anything.

Warm regards,

Dr. Nancy Lisi
Principal, Arbour Lake School
