June 19, 2025
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well. First, I wanted to share some wonderful news. If you recall, our Grade 9 students held their Market event a few months ago. I am pleased to let you know that their fundraising efforts were a success. They raised enough to donate $1,387.90 each to both UNICEF and the Canadian Cancer Society. Congratulations Grade 9s on collectively making a significantly positive impact on our world.
I am also pleased to report that all Grade 6 and Grade 9 PATs are now complete. Huge shout out to our Grade 6 and 9 teams and to Mr. Sloane for navigating a not always easy examination period. Congrats to our student who tried their best and successfully endured a week of exams! While the exams are not used to assess our students, there can be positive takeaways from the process. It does give our students a sense of what a high-stake exam setting will feel like in the future, and in some cases it highlights areas of growth and strength and this information is always good when seeking to develop and grow.
I am also happy to share that yearbooks are available for pick up. Our grade 9 Yearbook Class did a wonderful job documenting our year – thank you!
Tomorrow, we will mark National Indigenous Peoples Day with a school-wide activity. June 20 is a day to recognize and celebrate the traditions, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. The day takes place on the summer solstice, which holds deep cultural significance for many Indigenous communities as a time of renewal and celebration. Students will learn about the history and importance of the day, explore Indigenous cultures and stories, and participate in a traditional game called the Bone Game. Please ask them about the game when you have a moment.
As we move into our final week of the 2024-2025 school year, here are a few important reminders:
▪ Last Day of School: Thursday, June 26. This will be a half day following a Friday schedule, with dismissal at 12:00 pm.
▪ Report Cards: Available through PowerSchool on June 25.
▪ Appeals: June 27 from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Next week will be a busy week with various actives on multiple days, so please do pay close attention to the dates and times for these as noted below.
Thank you for your ongoing support throughout the school year. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance at nmlisi@cbe.ab.ca.
