Dear Arbour Lake Families,
As we near the end of the school year, it’s hard to believe how quickly time has flown by!
Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day, a time to celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, and histories of Indigenous peoples in Canada. This morning, we dedicated time to learning more about Indigenous history and culture, including various dances, games, and how Indigenous ways of knowing and being can connect to our own lives and learning. Attached, you will find ALS's renewed commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. Every year on this day, we recommit to our actions to support reconciliation. As a school, we are dedicated to sharing information and best practices on teaching curriculum related to residential schools and Aboriginal history, and to building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect.
Next week, various classes will be undertaking activities to celebrate the year, including trips to the movies, Arbour Lake Beach, and nature walks. These are wonderful ways to wrap up the year and celebrate our time together and the learning we've accomplished.
As we move into the last week of school, please inform us of any important information regarding your child for next year as soon as possible. Additionally, if your family will be leaving, please let us know immediately so we aren’t scheduling them in Homeroom and courses they will not be attending. At this time all complementary course requests should be in, please contact me ASAP if your child has not entered requests. These were due on Wednesday.
Report cards will be available for viewing in PowerSchool on June 26th. The last day of classes for students will be June 27th, which is an early dismissal day (following the Friday schedule) throughout CBE. On June 28th, teachers will be in from 8 am to 12 pm for appeals if you have any questions or concerns about report cards.
Wishing you all a great weekend and hoping you enjoy some summer weather!
Best regards,
Dr. Nancy Lisi, Principal
