Dear Arbour Lake Families,

The school year has come to an end more quickly than any of us expected, and I hope your children are leaving with fond memories of their school year and time at Arbour Lake. Our final week was busy! Grade teams took students to the movies, enjoyed a day at the lake, and explored the community on neighbourhood walks. It was wonderful to see students relaxed and enjoying each other's company.

Report cards were released yesterday through PowerSchool and can be viewed in your MyCBE account. If you wish to discuss your child’s assessment, grade-appeal appointments are available tomorrow, June 27, from 8:00 a.m. to noon; to book please email your child’s teacher in advance and include me in the communication so that teachers can prepare for a meaningful conversation.

Preliminary Provincial Achievement Test results went home yesterday with all Grade 6 and Grade 9 students. Although we are required to share these early scores, they remain unofficial until provincial marking is complete later in the summer.

As happens every year, staffing changes occur. This year we will be bidding farewell to several cherished colleagues. Mr. Graeme Olson will be moving to Nickle School, Ms. Jordan Stawinski to Dr. Oakley School, and Ms. Megan Sutherland to F. E. Osborne School. Additionally, Mr. Sam Martyn has accepted a continuous contract at Dr. G. M. Egbert School, and Ms. Jacquie Berndtsson has made the difficult decision to retire from full-time teaching. Please join me in thanking them for their dedication to our school and students and in wishing them success in their new roles and adventures. While we are very happy for them, they will all be dearly missed!

If your child in Grades 6 through 8 will not be returning to Arbour Lake School next year, and you have not yet notified us, please do so by noon tomorrow so we can release your child's records promptly and ensure their enrollment in their new school is not delayed.

To our Grade 9 students, we send our warmest wishes as you begin high school; we are confident you will thrive in this next chapter. For everyone else, we look forward to welcoming you back on September 2, 2025 at 8:00 a.m.

It remains a privilege and an honor to serve as principal of Arbour Lake School and to work alongside such supportive families. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work with such amazing students and I so enjoy watching them learn and grow. Thank you for trusting us with the most important people in your lives and thank you as well for your partnership throughout the year.  I wish each of you a restful and safe summer break and I hope you are all able to spend time doing the things you love with the people you cherish.

Warm regards,

Nancy Lisi
Principal, Arbour Lake School
