Good evening ALS parents/guardians,

I want to wish you all a happy Spring (even if it may not look it outside). This week at ALS was Spirit Week and students and staff had some fun dressing up, and at times I think the staff may have even more fun than the students. If you follow us on Instagram there is a wonderful picture of our Soccer Moms and BBQ Dads greeting students on their way into school on Tuesday.

Thank you to all of you that attended our School Council meeting on Tuesday. For those of you that couldn’t make it, I do hope you will scroll down to the “Announcements and Reminders” section of this message and take a few moments to fill out the survey that is intended to provide an opportunity to parents/guardians to share feedback with us on school-based fees and our school development plans. This feedback is used in planning for the coming school year. The survey will remain open until March 27.

Below my weekly message is notification from School Council regarding a Special Meeting being held April 16^th, 2024 @6:30PM. Please take a moment to review the notice.

Parent Teacher Conferences are running tonight until 8PM and then again tomorrow from 8AM to 1PM. I hope you get a chance to chat with your child’s teachers. Hearing from you and working alongside parents really is important to student success. I would also like to acknowledge and thank our School Council for ensuring that during our evening conferences teachers are always treated to a light dinner. We truly appreciate the generosity and support!

I want to wish you all a wonderful Spring Break and I hope many of you have exciting and interesting plans for the week ahead. We do not have classes scheduled for tomorrow and we will resume our regular schedule starting at 8AM on April 2, 2024. If you may need anything in the meantime, I am available via email with a bit of a delayed response time, but still happy to support if needed.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING

Arbour Lake School Fundraising Society

Notice is hereby given that a Special Meeting of the Arbour Lake School Council and the Arbour Lake School Fundraising Society (the "Special Meeting") will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams on Tuesday April 16, 2023, at 6:30pm.  The Special Meeting will precede the regular meeting of the Arbour Lake School Council and the Arbour Lake School Fundraising Society.  The purpose of the Special Meeting is as follows:

1. To repeal and replace in its entirety, the current Operating Procedures of the Arbour Lake School Council, with the proposed Amended Operating Procedures, attached below; and
2. To repeal and replace in its entirety, the current Bylaws of the Arbour Lake School Fundraising Society, with the proposed Amended Bylaws, attached below. 

All parents or guardians of a student of Arbour Lake School are welcome to attend.  Questions or concerns regarding the Special Meeting can be directed to the Arbour Lake School Council Chairs at alscouncil.chair@gmail.com.

Ramanda Supervision at Lunch

We have reconfigured our supervision schedule for the month of Ramadan. Students who are fasting are welcome to spend the first half of the lunch period when others are eating in the Learning Commons. Teacher supervisors will be present.

Mean Girls Junior – Hoodie Order

Arbour Lake School is proud to present their mainstage show this year, Mean Girls Jr! To promote our play and show our school spirit we are offering the opportunity to purchase a Mean Girls Jr hoodie. This is an open opportunity for all students and families in Arbour Lake School. All hoodies will be pink in color and have a Mean Girls Jr logo on the front and "On Wednesday's we wear pink" on the back. They will each have a personalized name on the sleeve as well. The cost of the hoodies is to be determined by how many are ordered. The maximum amount would be $50.00. So please only order if this price is okay with you.

Healthy Hunger Dates

Organized by our School Council, Arbour Lake School does offer “Fun Lunches” through Healthy Hunger. Parents can order lunch for their child in advance. It is delivered to the school on the noted date and distributed to students. If you’re interested in taking advantage of getting a break from making lunches occasionally this is a nice treat for parents and students.
