I hope this message finds you all well and that you’ve all been able to start your well-deserved weekend by the time you receive this message. J

Earlier this week I sent out the link to the school planning engagement survey for 2024-2025. We are starting to look ahead to the next school year and I am hoping you can take a few minutes to provide me with some feedback directly linked to our school development process and school-based fees. Please note that when we consider school-based fees this does NOT include lunch supervision fees for grade 6 students, nor does it include transportation fees. Please use the link below to share your perspective with me on fees and our SDP.

Please review the “Important Dates” section of this message as we do have a lot happening between now and spring break. Please make note that we will be holding Parent-Teacher Conferences on March 21 4-8PM and March 22 8am-1pm. The conference booking system will open a week prior to conferences and we will inform you when it opens. Please also note that conferences will again default to “virtual” however if you prefer an in-person conference, we can arrange that as well.

Finally, Ramadan Mubarak to those of you who celebrating as Ramadan begins this weekend. We know that this is a very important spiritual celebration and we want to ensure we support our students who will be fasting as best as we can. In previous years some students have asked to sit separately from their peers during our lunch break, and this is very understandable, and if needed we can arrange this again. I also want to note that our teachers are aware that students will be fasting and we will take this into account when it comes to student expectations to participate, especially in physical education. Please simply reach out if you need anything at all. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Sincerely,

Nancy Lisi, Principal

Student Fees

Throughout the school year, students participate in off-site activities and learning enhancement opportunities that may require that parents pay a fee. We are aware that there are times and circumstances that arise that make paying these fees a challenge to families. Please know we are here to support our students and that it is important to us that students are able to take advantage of these learning opportunities, specifically those full class/grade activities. If families do find themselves struggling to pay our school-based fees, please reach out to Ms. Lisi at nmlisi@cbe.ab.ca. There are possibilities, options, and plans that we can create together to ensure students are able to participate in these activities.

Grade 9 Market – March 14th

The Arbour Lake Market is happening on Thursday, March 14th!  While working toward mastery of various learning outcomes within the Grade 9 Programs of Study, Grade 9 students have been busy at work creating a variety of products to sell to students at the school.  Students will have a chance to come to the gym on March 14th to purchase products.  All proceeds will be going to the Cancer Society.  If your child would like to purchase items please send cash with your child.
