Good evening,
I hope everyone is doing well! This week has been jammed packed! The Class students participated in ROARR, in the equestrian program, grade 8s were visited by representatives from the Glenbow Museum, our grade 7 Badminton team had a tournament, as I write this our grade 6 team is also in a tournament, the grade 5s from Citadel were visiting us today, and on Tuesday the grade 5s and 6s from Hawkwood came for their tour, a cohort of our grade 9s went to see the Calgary Surge, and of course all our 9s wrote their ELA PAT on Monday. Add all that in addition to the regular day of learning and I think it is fair to say that our students have earned themselves a lovely May long weekend. I also want to thank all the parents that come out and support our field trips, it is really helpful and we so appreciate your support and involvement in our school activities.
On Tuesday our School Council is having their AGM. This is an in-person meeting at the school. Start time is 6:30PM. In attendance will also be the principal of Thirsk High School, Mandy Hambridge. She will be able to share with families a little bit about Rober Thirsk High School. During this meeting I will also share our staffing and budget plan for 2024-2025.
I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend and that you get a chance to spend some time with family and friends, doing the things you love to do together. As always please reach out if you need anything at all. Tomorrow is a non-instructional day and students do not have classes, and Monday is Victoria Day and the school will be closed. Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Nancy Lisi, Principal

Announcements & Reminders:
Arbour Lake School Annual Spring Dance | May 23rd
The ALS ImPACt Team is proud to announce the theme of the 2024 Annual Spring Dance: Hollywood! The dance will take place on Thursday, May 23rd from 6:30 to 8:30 and all students are welcome to attend. Doors to the event will open at 6:20 and close at 6:45. Tickets are $5, and students will get a snack and drink with entry. Additional food will also be available at the dance. Also, prizes will be awarded during the dance. For the next four weeks, tickets will be on sale during the first half of lunch in the gathering space. Students who wish to purchase tickets before the event will gain express entry on the night of the event. However, tickets are also available on the night of the dance. Students are encouraged to dress for the red carpet, but we also know that Adam Sandler is a Hollywood favourite, and he gets along just fine in t-shirts and baggy shorts. We look forward to a fun-filled night in May!

Messages from School Council
Teen Triple P Seminars
Arbour Lake School Council is happy to share a learning opportunity presented for parents and caregivers of Arbour Lake School students. In collaboration with the Trellis Family Resource Network, we have the opportunity to host three seminars aimed at supporting skill development in parenting our teenagers. The teenage years are a time of tremendous change and development for our children and can sometimes be difficult to navigate as we're helping our teens move through puberty, friendships, other relationships, academics, and all the things in between.
We're excited to share these learning opportunities to support and engage our school parent/caregiver community and hope you're able to join us. The attached poster has additional information on each seminar. Please save the date for May 14th, 28th, and June 18th. Teams Virtual event invitations to follow.
