Good afternoon ALS Families,

I hope everyone has had a wonderful week. It has been another busy week at ALS as we move further into the final stretch of the school year.

This Week at ALS

Last night, we hosted our school dance with approximately 220 students in attendance. It was a fantastic evening, and students had a great time. A very special thank you to our ImPACt students who took a significant leadership role in organizing and planning the event. Their creativity, initiative, teamwork, and leadership were outstanding, and they should be very proud of the event they helped create for their peers. Thank you as well to our teacher supervisors and staff volunteers who supported the evening and helped ensure it ran smoothly and safely.

Our first Provincial Achievement Test was also written this week, with Grade 9 students completing English Language Arts Part A. We are proud of the effort students put forward and appreciate the support families continue to provide during PAT season. The upcoming PAT schedule is included below.

Our Grade 6 students also had the opportunity this week to work with Elev8 Lacrosse during their physical education classes. Students had a fantastic time learning new skills, staying active, and being introduced to the sport through engaging and energetic sessions.

Finally, Grade 7 students headed off to Calaway Park this morning for their science field trip. We are thankful for some decent weather accompanying this engaging experience.

School Council

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our School Council AGM this week. We are very appreciative of the continued support our families provide to our school community.

I would especially like to extend my sincere gratitude to outgoing Chairs, Jenny Crawford and Krista Sutherland, for their years of dedication, support, advocacy, and countless volunteer hours supporting ALS students, staff, and families. Their leadership, commitment, and partnership have been invaluable to our school community and their work behind the scenes has had a tremendous impact on the experiences we are able to provide students. I would also like to thank Jeremy Crawford for his support and work on School Council this year. Volunteers such as Jenny, Krista, and Jeremy play an incredibly important role in helping build strong school communities and supporting opportunities for students. Congratulations as well to our new School Council Executive who was voted in during our AGM. I very much look forward to working with those members new to council and I equally look forward continuing to work with our returning members. Your support of our school community is vital to student success.
