Good afternoon ALS Families,
As we turn the calendar to June on Monday, we officially enter the final month of the 2025-2026 school year. While the finish line is in sight, there is still much to accomplish and celebrate before we head off for summer. June is always a busy and exciting month at Arbour Lake School, and we look forward to sharing many more experiences and accomplishments with our students over the coming weeks.
Wellness Day – Thank you!
This past week, we held our annual Wellness Day, one of the highlights of the school year. Students had the opportunity to choose from more than 60 different sessions and activities, ranging from physical wellness and creative pursuits to personal growth, leadership, and mental well being. The day was made possible through the generosity of numerous guest speakers and community members who volunteered their time and expertise to work with our students.
A tremendous thank you goes to Ms. Jill MacDougall and the entire Wellness Day planning team for the countless hours of work that went into organizing such a successful event. The day began with a pancake breakfast and concluded with a special lunchtime visit from YYC Food Trucks, making for a memorable experience for students and staff alike.
I would also like to extend a sincere thank you to our School Council for their significant financial contribution in support of Wellness Day. Their ongoing commitment to enhancing opportunities for our students continues to make a meaningful difference in our school community.
Congratulations to our Band Students!
Congratulations as well to our Grade 6-9 Band students on their outstanding Spring Concert this week. The growth, confidence, and musical talent on display were truly impressive. A special thank you goes to Mr. Eygenraam for his dedication, expertise, and passion throughout the year. Programs such as band play an important role in helping students develop creativity, discipline, teamwork, and confidence, and we are grateful for the opportunities our students have to participate in such meaningful experiences.
Complementary Course Selections for 2026-27
Earlier this week, information regarding complementary course selections for next year was sent home to families of current Grade 6-8 students. If you have not yet completed your student's course selection form, please do so as soon as possible. Our ability to build next year's complementary programming, staffing, and course offerings depends heavily on student interest and selection data.
Peer Requests for 2026-2027 - Closed
Peer requests for next year's homeroom placements are now closed. Families whose children did not submit a peer request may still contact me directly this week if they would like their child to participate in the process. After this week, our assumption will be that families have no specific peer requests to be considered as we begin the complex process of creating next year's classes. As a reminder, peer requests are a courtesy and we work hard to accommodate them where possible while ensuring balanced and successful learning environments for all students.
June Communication
As we head into June, there will be many important events, celebrations, field trips, exams, transition activities, and year end communications coming your way. I know this can be an incredibly busy time for families, and I sincerely appreciate your diligence in keeping up with school communications and important deadlines. Your partnership and support play an important role in helping us finish the year strong.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of Arbour Lake School. I wish everyone a wonderful weekend ahead and continue to invite you to reach out if you need anything at all.
Sincerely,
Dr. Nancy Lisi
