Hello ALS Families,
This week, our Grade 6 and Grade 9 students completed the first of their Provincial Achievement Tests—ELA Part A. This marks the beginning of the PAT season. Please see the schedule below for the upcoming exams, which include ELA Part B, Math Part A and B, and Social Studies for Grades 6 and 9, and Science for Grade 9.
A huge congratulations to our ImPACt team for hosting an incredible school dance! Tropical Escape was a huge success, complete with pineapple-themed décor, lemonade and iced tea beverages, and lots of fun. A big thank you goes out to Mr. Eygenraam for DJing, Mr. Cousin for arranging the lighting, and Ms. MacDougall for helping with décor. We are also grateful to our amazing team of teacher supervisors who stayed late to make this event possible: Ms. Julian, Ms. Sayed, Ms. Pedersen, Mr. Schrader, Ms. Samuelson, Ms. McFarlane, Mr. Hicks, Ms. Paul, Ms. Laird, and Ms. Stawinski. Proceeds from the event are being donated to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation—final tally coming soon!
This week, we also welcomed Sound Kreations, who worked with all students in Grades 6–9 on the dance component of their Physical Education program. We hope students enjoyed this fun and active learning experience.
Looking ahead, next week is a big one as we celebrate our Grade 9 Farewell! The ceremony, which includes parents and guardians, will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and a dance just for the students. We look forward to celebrating this important milestone with our Grade 9s.
Earlier this week information came out around Complementary Course Selection for 2025-2026 (Grade 9s need not do this). Please do take a look at those and ensure you and your child select their courses for next year.
Finally, we have a large number of items in our lost and found. If your child has lost items this year, it would be a good idea to check the lost and found. All remaining items will be donated to goodwill at the end of the year.
Enjoy the warm weather this weekend! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at nmlisi@cbe.ab.ca.
Warm regards,
Nancy Lisi
