Hello Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well. As you know, it’s been a very short week here at ALS. Today we held our regularly scheduled Buddy Day, where Grade 6 homerooms were paired with Grade 8 homerooms and Grade 7s with Grade 9s. Students spent time together building community through a fun trivia activity, and we hope they enjoyed the experience.
Next week we return to full operations with lunch-hour clubs and extracurricular offerings resuming. Our Grade 9 students will be visiting the Calgary Zoo, and our Senior Boys Basketball team will be playing an exhibition game on Wednesday, November 19. We are looking forward to a busy and engaging week for students.
School Council will also resume its meetings next week. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 18 at 6:30 pm in a virtual format. Here is the link to join us: Join the meeting now. We hope you are able to attend. Additionally, our Healthy Hunger - Fun Lunch program, sponsored by our School Council, will resume on November 20th. Please see the Announcements section for dates and how to place an order.
A few important updates regarding reporting and assessment:
▪ We were informed this week that Semester 1 report cards will now be made available on February 24 rather than at the end of January. This is a CBE system decision and not a school-based one. Please note that this change does not affect the start or end dates of our semesters. Semester 1 will still end on January 27, and Semester 2 will begin on January 28.
▪ Parent Teacher Conferences will proceed as planned on November 27 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and on November 28 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. The link to book conferences will be shared with families next week.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead and with the chillier weather upon us, I hope you’re able to stay warm. Do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything. I can be contacted at nmlisi@cbe.ab.ca.
Warm regards,
Dr. Nancy Lisi
