Dear Parents,
It has been a busy week at school! Our Grade 8 students visited YYC Beach, while our Grade 6s visited Arts Common, connecting their classroom work on municipal government to real-world experiences. They even had the opportunity to meet Jennifer Wynness! Meanwhile, our Grade 9 students visited the Calgary Zoo which is always a good time. These field trips provided valuable learning opportunities outside the classroom, and we’re thrilled that our students were able to participate.
Basketball season has now officially wrapped up for the Junior Girls, Senior Boys and Junior Boys teams. Congratulations to all our athletes for their hard work, growth, and development throughout the season. A special thank you goes to our dedicated coaches who gave their time and energy to support the teams: Mr. James, Ms. Caron, Ms. Tompkins, Ms. Todd, Ms. Rehman, Ms. McKeon, Ms. MacDougall, and Mr. Maris. Tonight, our Senior Girls team will be playing in the finals at Thirsk at 4:00 PM. Please come out and cheer them on if you can!
Thank you to those that attended Tuesday’s School Council meeting. During the meeting, I reviewed our School Development Plan (SDP), which is now available on our website, along with the 2023 School Results Report. Please take a moment to review these documents to gain a better understanding of our school’s goals.
Looking ahead, next week we will be holding Parent/Teacher Conferences (November 28 th 4-8PM and November 29th 8AM-1PM). The link to book appointments has already been sent out. These conferences will be held online; however, if you would prefer an in-person meeting, please contact the office or your child’s teacher directly to make arrangements. Also a quick reminder to check PowerSchool through My CBE accounts to stay up to date on your child’s progress and check out D2L to see what they are working on specifically.
As winter has descended upon us, please ensure that your child is dressed warmly, as students go outside for lunch every day. It's important that they have the proper clothing for both waiting for the bus and participating in outdoor activities.
Wishing you all a warm and enjoyable weekend! If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email at nmlisi@cbe.ab.ca.
Best regards,
Dr. Nancy Lisi
