Dear Parents/Guardians,
First, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the parents who volunteered for our recent off-campus learning opportunities, we’ve had many already this fall. Your support significantly reduces costs and enhances our students' experiences, allowing us to provide these valuable educational activities. These opportunities are designed to extend classroom learning and foster growth and confidence in our students. It’s crucial that as many of our students as possible take advantage of these experiences. If you ever need assistance ensuring your child can participate, please don't hesitate to reach out.
This week was bustling with athletic events, and I’d like to extend a huge congratulations to our Boys Soccer team for their impressive win against the undefeated Branton, clinching first place in their division! Our Boys Basketball team also had a fantastic night, winning both their games, and our Junior Girls Basketball team achieved two significant victories as well. Kudos to our dedicated teams and coaches! Girls Soccer finals are next week along with Boys Soccer semi-finals and finals. Good luck Coyotes!
I want to take a moment to remind everyone that our coaches are teachers who volunteer their time to create opportunities for our students. They are not required to coach, but they genuinely enjoy working with our students in this capacity. It's important to remember that middle school athletics is about more than just winning; it fosters teamwork, resilience, and personal growth. Please support your child’s involvement and refrain from providing unsolicited advice or questioning coaching decisions. Coaches make choices that are in the best interest of the entire team, and any significant concerns should be directed to me.
On another note, I’d like to address traffic safety. We’ve received multiple reports of students darting into the street instead of using crosswalks, leading to near misses. Please remind your children to be vigilant and obey traffic laws. If you’re driving them to and from school, allow yourself extra time—our children’s safety is paramount and well worth the extra minutes.
Next week, we’ll be celebrating Halloween! Our student leadership class, with Ms. Caron, will host a haunted house, and students are encouraged to dress up. Please ensure that costumes do not fall into the realm of cultural appropriation and remind your child that props resembling weapons are not permitted. Costumes should be appropriate for our school environment, so if you have any questions or need clarification, feel free to reach out.
Lastly, I want to thank all the students who applied to join the Principal's Advisory Council, ImPACt. We received over 50 applications, making the selection process challenging. After careful consideration, we’ve shortlisted 20 applicants and narrowed it down to 12 members, listed below. Congratulations to all who applied—each one of you demonstrated the courage to take risks, and I applaud your efforts. While we wish we could work with everyone, our work becomes ineffective if our group is too large. Ms. MacDougall and I look forward to collaborating with the selected members, and we’ll share meeting dates soon.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
