Good afternoon Parents and Guardians,
What a week it has been at Arbour Lake School! Nearly 60 of our Grade 6 students returned yesterday afternoon from their four-day, three-night adventure at Camp Chief Hector. They arrived home exhausted but buzzing with excitement, and we were grateful they had such beautiful weather throughout the trip. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Mr. Jang, Mr. Maris, Ms. Miller, and Ms. Laird for generously giving their time and care to support our students on this experience. These trips would not be possible without the dedication of our teachers, who volunteer their time and sacrifice moments with their own families to ensure our students can create such lasting memories.
Meanwhile, a group of our Grade 9 students is currently sailing off the west coast. They are also supported by an incredible team of teachers who have taken time away from their families to be there. By all accounts, they are having a fantastic time and even spotted whales yesterday!
Looking ahead to next week, our Grade 8 students will participate in Riverwatch on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, students in The Class will attend the ROAR equine program. In athletics, divisional badminton tournaments for our Grade 6–8 teams are also scheduled next week. And on Wednesday, we are excited to host our school-wide Wellness Day, with over 80 unique activities for students to choose from as they craft a personalized day focused on supporting both their physical and emotional well-being.
Track and field tryouts will also begin next week during lunch—stay tuned for the schedule. We are looking forward to assembling a strong and talented track and field team that will represent as on June 4th at the annual Track and Field Meet.
A big thank you to our School Council for the Barista Station and snacks today. What a thoughtful and generous gesture! Our staff truly appreciated it.
I also want to pause and recognize the outstanding teachers and staff at Arbour Lake School. I feel incredibly fortunate to work alongside such talented and committed professionals. As both a colleague and a parent, I am deeply grateful for the care and expertise they bring to our school community every day.
Yesterday, parents of students in Grades 6–8 would have received an email with a link to the Peer Request Form. This form is to be completed with your child to support them in making positive and thoughtful peer selections for their 2025–2026 homeroom placement. As noted in the email, there is no ranking of names—students are simply asked to list four peers, in no particular order. We guarantee that one of the four peers listed will be placed in the same homeroom.
Please ensure the form is completed and submitted by May 23, 2025. After this date, the link will close so we can begin the process of creating class groupings for the upcoming school year.

Finally, to all the moms—and those who fill that role in any way—I wish you a very happy Mother’s Day. Your work is never done, and you are deeply appreciated. I hope you get some well-deserved time this weekend with the ones who made you a mom.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me at nmlisi@cbe.ab.ca if you have any questions.
Warm regards,
Dr. Nancy Lisi
