Hello Arbour Lake Families,
As we wrap up another week at Arbour Lake School, it is hard to believe that we have already put the full month of September behind us.
This week, we spent time focusing on our ongoing commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, with Tuesday’s Orange Shirt Day providing an important opportunity for learning and reflection across our school. The content that guided our work has been included in this message for families to review.
As a culminating school-wide activity, all students were provided with an opportunity to reflect on the meaning behind “Every Child Matters” and to contribute to a collective expression of that learning. Our hope is that this work continues to deepen students’ understanding of the history and significance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and, importantly, why this learning and our commitment to reconciliation continue throughout the year.
As we reflect on the importance of community, belonging, and learning together, we also want to extend a warm welcome to the many new families who have joined Arbour Lake School over the past few weeks. We are very pleased to have you as part of our school community and hope your transition to Arbour Lake has been a positive one. We recognize that some of our newest families may not have been with us when our family start up information was shared at the beginning of September. To help ensure everyone has the information they need, I have attached these resources again for your reference:
▪ Bell times and daily schedule
▪ School calendar
▪ School fee information
▪ School Start Up Guide with important information for the year
▪ Supporting Student Behaviours chart
As we head into October, I hope everyone enjoys the beautiful fall colours and some sunshine this weekend. Wishing all of our Arbour Lake families a wonderful weekend and a great start to the month ahead.
As always, please reach out to nmlisi@cbe.ab.ca if you need anything at all.
