Hello Arbour Lake Families,
It has been another busy week at Arbour Lake School, and we were fortunate to end it with a couple of wonderful opportunities to come together as a school community.
Today, our students and staff participated in our annual Terry Fox Run, followed by our Welcome Back BBQ. It was wonderful to see so many families able to join us for the BBQ and spend some time at the school. We hope you enjoyed the opportunity to connect with one another and with our staff.
We also held our first School Council meeting of the year this week. We greatly appreciate the parents and guardians who were able to attend. Partnership with families is an important part of our success in supporting students, and School Council provides a valuable opportunity to stay connected, share information, and work together throughout the year.
Updated Administrative Regulation: Responsibilities of Parents
With legislative changes taking effect this year, the CBE has updated and developed a number of Administrative Regulations to align with these changes. Families will receive information directly from the Office of the Chief Superintendent regarding the updated AR 5002: Responsibilities of Parents however, feel free to review early. This new regulation is intended to strengthen the partnership between home and school and as mentioned, align with changes in legislation that has been introduced this fall. As always, I look forward to continuing to work in collaboration with all parents/guardians to ensure continued success of our students.
Orientation Night: Thursday, September 24, 6:30 to 8:00 PM
A reminder that our Orientation Night will take place next Thursday, September 24, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. The evening will begin with a welcome and brief address in the main gym, followed by an opportunity for families to tour the school and connect with teachers in their child’s grade team. Teachers will share information about the learning and key concepts students will engage with throughout the year. This evening is not intended to be a learning conference or an opportunity to discuss individual student progress. Our formal Learning Conferences will take place in November. Rather, Orientation Night is an opportunity to put faces to names, become familiar with the school, and gain a better sense of what a typical day and year of learning may look like for your child at Arbour Lake School. We hope to see many of you next Thursday.
If there is anything we can do to support your child or family, please feel free to reach out at nmlisi@cbe.ab.ca.
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy a little bit of sunshine!
Best regards,
Dr. Nancy Lisi
