Principal's Weekly Message- October 20, 2023

Good afternoon,

My apologies in not getting this out to families yesterday, I was away from the school. Thank you to our new School Council executive and all the parents that joined our meeting on Tuesday. We have always been so fortunate at Arbour Lake School to have such supportive parents. Thank you also to those of you who reached out after the email to families sent earlier this week. It is always reassuring to know that we are not alone in our work. Thank you for your support!

This week our 2023-2024 principal’s advisory council was selected. We were inundated with applications making the selection process very difficult. Preference was given to grade 9s creating spots for a few more of them on council than usual, while still ensuring representation from all grades. ImPACt is a student body that serves as an advisory council to the principal by providing student voice in school governance and operational matters. Additionally, students on council act as ALS ambassadors and leaders both within and without the school community. Below is our new council. If you know them, please congratulate them as this year it was a very competitive process. Thank you to all applicants – we truly have remarkable students.

  • Abeena            Gr. 8
  • Brady               Gr. 9
  • Fernanda         Gr. 8
  • Jackson            Gr. 8
  • Jade                 Gr. 9
  • Jio                    Gr. 8
  • Joulyssa           Gr. 9
  • Malia               Gr. 7
  • Marin              Gr. 6
  • Muskaan         Gr. 6
  • Mychaela        Gr. 9
  • Rubina             Gr. 7
  • Zareenah         Gr. 6
  • Zoe                  Gr. 9

I asked all selected students to email me, and I have not yet heard from all of them. If your child is on council would you kindly remind them to send me a quick email so we can create a group email conversation.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and please let me know if there’s anything you need.

Sincerely,

Nancy Lisi, Principal

Healthy Hunger Dates

Organized by our School Council, Arbour Lake School does offer “Fun Lunches” through Healthy Hunger. Parents can order lunch for their child in advance. It is delivered to the school on the noted date and distributed to students. If you’re interested in taking advantage of getting a break from making lunches occasionally this is a nice treat for parents and students. The link to sign up is below.  Please scroll down and select “Arbour Lake Middle School” – there are two schools with similar names, this is the one that takes you to our staff selection.
