Principal's Weekly Message - September 15 2023

Good afternoon!

It’s been a great week at Arbour Lake School as we finished off with a tribute to Terry Fox and our students participated in the annual Run for Cancer. We start off in the gym with a video and learning about Terry Fox and then our students headed out to do the run. They did a great job and showed all the characteristics that embodied Terry Fox – bravery, determination, and compassion! Well done Coyotes and thank you to Mr. Cousin, Mr. Smaniotto, Ms. MacDougall, and our Leadership students for organizing this great event.

Our fall athletics program is now in full swing. Tryouts have come and gone as teams have been established for soccer and basketball. Congratulations to all student-athletes that participated in tryouts. It is not easy to take risks, but we had so many of our students who did and did so with pride and class. Congratulations too, to those athletes that did get selected to represent Arbour Lake School on our soccer and basketball team. Boys Soccer had their first game last night and Girls Soccer will have theirs next week. Cross Country had their first meet on Wednesday and will have their second next Wednesday. Our basketball teams will start practices next week and will begin their games in October.

Next week is a busy one. I would like to remind parents that on Tuesday, September 19th, School Council will be holding its AGM starting at 6:30pm at the school. Please do come out and join us. We have a great many new families to our school community, and I would love to meet you all. As well, on Thursday, September 21st, from 6:30 – 8:00pm, we will be holding our Fall Orientation Night. This is an opportunity to come and visit the school and put a face to the name of your child’s teacher. Please see attached invite.

Hope you all have a great weekend. Please do reach out if you need anything at all.

Sincerely,

Nancy Lisi, Principal
