Principal's Weekly Update - November 17, 2023

Hello ALS families,

I hope your week has gone well and that your time with the kids over their fall break was enjoyable.

As we move into next week we do have our first Parent Teacher Conferences scheduled. Conferences will run on November 23rd from 4-8pm and again on November 24th from 8am-1pm. Thursday is a regular day; however, students do not have school on November 24th.

We received overwhelming feedback during last spring’s parent engagement to continue with our virtual conferences, and as such, the default for conferences will be VIRTUAL, however if parents prefer an in-person session please contact your child’s teacher and they can arrange this for you. Please note that each session is 10 minutes. If you need more time, again please reach out to your child’s teacher to make arrangements to meet outside of conference bookings.

Our system opens for online booking for Nov 17, 2023, at 12:00 PM and ends on Nov 23, 2023, at 09:00 AM. Please follow this link to book or manage your booking.

Additionally, next Tuesday evening is our November School Council Meeting. This is will also be a virtual session starting at 6:30PM. All parents are welcome to attend, in fact the more the merrier! You can access the meeting through the link provided below. I do hope to see you then!  Click here to join the meeting

I hope you all have a great weekend and please continue to reach out if you need anything at all.

Sincerely,

Nancy Lisi, Principal

Winter Fundraiser Alert!

Are you seeking creative ways to make your home come alive this holiday season? The Grade 9 sailing trip is currently selling an exquisite collection of winter plants to raise funds for the spring sailing trip. The money generated from the sale will be used to subsidize the cost of the trip. These premium quality plants are supplied by Growing Smiles, and you can choose from a range of indoor and outdoor plants.

The premium poinsettias (available in red or white) would make a great addition to your home decor or add a festive look to your dining table with a mixed tropical planter in holiday-themed tins. You could also consider a hanging greenery bough that comes in a vintage burlap bag holding premium greens and red ilex berry branches to lean up against stairs, benches, or hang from your door!

We are also selling classic holiday outdoor wreaths with juniper and cedar, large plaid low, frosted pinecones, and red berries. For your front porch, you can welcome your guests with a large stunning and fresh holiday greenery arrangement that stands 2 feet tall!

The Fundraiser will run until November 22nd, and your orders will be ready for pick up at the school on December 7th. You can choose to support a single student or the entire trip by specifying your donation preference at checkout. If you're looking for a healthy alternative to giving cookies, something complementary to go with chocolates, or just something to add a pop of colour and cheer to the holidays, simply use the link below to take you to our fundraising website.

We would be grateful if you could share the link with your family and friends to support the fundraiser.
